A lot of things to get squared away before the buses leave to take us to the airport in just a few minutes, so today’s practice update is necessarily bare bones.
The headline has to be injuries, I’d think: the only player not present at practice was Marcus Washington. Clinton Portis was doing some light work, as were Anthony Montgomery and Chris Samuels. Coach Zorn called Portis a gametime decision, noting “I thought he’d be more involved today,” but that’s ahead of where he was at this time last week.
Ladell Betts will definitely play, though. And Shawn Springs and Malcolm Kelly both continued to participate.
So it looks very much like the team will be near full strength on Sunday (with the exception of Washington), and like Zorn will finally be able to pick and choose his inactives based on what he wants to do, not what he has to do.
Other than that, it was a Friday practice. Red zone work, a lot of special teams, and a bunch of guys ready to get on the road, all with added simulated crowd noise.
A few more pictures after the jump.

Sounds good Matt, enjoy the flight!
any malcolm kelly pictures you could post??
Hey how about practicing pass protection and the long ball………………………….! We need more big plays from the offense… At least take a shot per quarter sheesh!! Disheartening to watch! Put Heyer back in for better protection and youth. Portis isn’t even @ full strength right now! air it out much as you can.
How about first play of the game, you come out 3 wr 2 te 2 rb set. Play action and throw deep to Moss, Kelly or Thomas. Make a statement. If they don’t catch it, OH WELL . . there is always next time.
Point being that we gotta make them respect our passing game, or our running game WILL NOT go NOWHERE!
GO SKINS ! ! !
Good call Skins Fan. Thats what I’m talking about! Nice pics Matt.
Dear Skins fan— That would give us 13 people on the field.
Hahaha good call NWP2V . .
I guess I got a little carried away as I am just sick of not having an offense.
Scratch 1 WR and 1 TE . .
GO SKINS
Isnt it kinda funny how many kicks Suisham has already missed and NO ONE has been out there talking about him? Where is his hot seat?
Suisham is 19 for 25 so far. That is 76%
His longest this year has been a 50yrd FG. Nothing to fire him for, but I think it could be MUCH better.
I’m prayin for you guys
kyu, Suisham is 7th in the nfl with fg made and he has only missed 5 all season and the one against dallas wasn’t him he was kicking against the wind because our o-line gave up a 9 yard sack
Matt, Any thing on which WR’s will be active this weekend
I guess Vinny said that Malcolm Kelly is gonna be active against the Shehawks, huh? At least that’s what he said on The Red Zone this morning…
If we are gonna really hunker down and make it to the playoffs, we NEED to be able to score almost at will. JC needs to get a clue and let it rip.
Couldn’t have said it any better Tony. Our ability to score has been the reason we have lost the games we lost.
As John Madden has always said, “The team with the most points wins the game”.
GO SKINS!
I just thought of something. Can we have a spread offense with the MidWest Coast offense?
With 4 WRs, 1 RB, and a TE? Will that work?
Also, can you find out, Matt, if they actually practiced pass protection, and the deep ball? Because they really need to do better at both aspects of the game. At least, find somebody for the deep ball sometimes during a game.
When we didn’t even do that in the Dallas game, their secondary just bunched up and forced us to do short passes and never really gave us an open area. We need to do a better job of that.
I remember seeing Sonny in his 68 Green Dodge Charger ….. again I was there when Sonny took up Karate at Kim’s Studio’s in Silver Spring.
I saw him next many years later ” J ” walking accross K st with his arms full of files. I offered to give him a ride.
I was in my car , stopped in traffic heading east.
All he said was ” Pal, gotta lite for my cigar” ?
his hands were full and he could’nt use a match .
# 9 …. you are the best !
All i can say is get devin the freakin ball he is a beast man we could have a brandon marshall on our hands and we dont even know it
MATT SEEING THAT OUR BEST DEFENSIVE PLAYER S ARE IN THE SECONDARY HOW ABOUT BLACHE INSTALL THE -THREE -THREE -FIVE DEFENSE WITH HORTON AND LARON CLOSE TO THE LINES AT THE STRONG SAFETIES,WITH SPRINGS AT THE FREE SAFETY .FRED SMOOT PLAYED IT IN COLLEGE. DO SOME RESEARCH ON IT IT SEEMS PERFECT FOR US.
OK, I was wrong with Cowboys 33 Redskins 17… But I can live with Cowboys 14 Redskins 10!!!!!
Hey Go Cowboys, GO AWAY. Go back to your own bunk blogs, talk about what great guys pacman and Tank and T.O are and how Jerry Jones reminds people of Mr. Burns from the Simpsons, you know go back and talk about about your own team.
Suisham is 19 for 25 so far. That is 76%
